We’re thinking of arranging a group to travel by train from Helsinki to Turku in the morning of May 1 (and back on Sunday). If enough people attend that, we can get a group discount from VR.

If you’d be interested in attending, leave a comment on this post or send e-mail to <acon@sci.fi>.

Book Your Trip

The information on the travel page has been updated. We’re once again offering members an inexpensive ferry trip to Åland and back.

The hotel is telling us that the rooms are being booked faster this year than last year. While we expect the room block that we have reserved to be enough, we are no longer certain of it, so we advise everyone who wants to be sure of getting a room at the hotel to follow the instructions on the Hotel info page and book now.

As mentioned elsewhere, reservations close on March 30 and any remaining rooms will be released back to the hotel.

Amazon.com has published its Best Books of 2007 list, and on second place is our GoH Ian McDonald’s novel Brasyl!

Say hi to the people behind Åcon!

Thank you to Mr. Kimmo Lehtonen for writing the introduction to Ian McDonald!

The members page has been updated with membership fee and payment info.

McDonald Wins Hugo

Our GoH Ian McDonald has won the Hugo award for his novelette The Djinn’s Wife, published in Asimov’s July 2006 issue. Åcon congratulates!
